Happy Birthday Brody - Disney Style

We woke up Monday morning, Dec 2 and had a 7 year old.  This was our first time being away from home on his birthday but what better place to spend your birthday than Disney.  He was surprised that morning with a cupcake from the hotel and a small birthday bucket from us.

We headed to his favorite park – Hollywood Studios – in hopes that they could fight Darth Vadar.  We arrived at the park at the signup line at 9:10 (the park opened at 9) and the line was wrapped outside of the building.  By the time I got to the front the slots were all filled up and we were on a standby list – CRAZY!!!!  We weren’t about to go back every 40 minutes throughout the day to see if someone backed out, so we figured we would have to come back another day.

Please tell me why in the world that we had to wear shorts to Disney in December.  Crazy weather.  They of course wanted to go to one of their favorite areas - Honey I Shrunk the Kids area.

This was our first time going on the Back Stage Tour - and I think the boys really enjoyed it.

We were able to see The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights and it is always so pretty.  They even had snow.

Love the Mickey's all throughout the light display.

While I was in line that morning for the Jedi Training, Jason took off to get a fast pass for Toy Story Mania.  10 minutes after the park opened and the first available fast pass was 7:00pm.  CRAZY!!  We quickly realized that Disney is trying out some Magic Bands for lots of their guests and one advantage of the bands is that you can sit in your hotel room and book your fast passes - VERY UNFAIR for the ones who don't have a band.  Oh well, wasn't much we could do about it.  Finally able to ride Toy Story - We all love the ride and I guess everyone else does too.

After a long day at Hollywood Studios we headed over to Magic Kingdom to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours until 1AM.  When we arrived to the park they were getting ready for a parade so the streets were cleared out.

What a wonderful first day - 2 more to go!!
