Trevor's Web

Back in August of last year, we started the transformation of Trevor’s room.  He had been in a toddler bed for awhile and it was time for a change.

However, I was struggling to find a bed for him because I knew I wouldn’t be able to find wood that matched.  I decided to look for a twin bed frame on Craigslist and then paint it blue.  Thankfully I found a great deal on one and went to painting.

Trevor went with a Spiderman theme – possibly with a little help from me since I found a good deal on a red/blue quilt from PotteryBarn Kids.

He was pretty excited with his new twin bed and ready to sleep in it.

One reason it took so long to finish his room was because I had to wait for trips to NY to get some of the décor.  I had seen a few pictures a couple of years ago when I went to the city and Tara told me to go ahead and get them, but I didn’t listen because I wasn’t sure if Trevor’s room would be Spiderman – should have listened to her.

A bookshelf was also needed so off to Craigslist I searched.   A little sanding and painting and it looks much better (sorry no before picture).

The finished product

I tried to utilize things we already had and just change them up – you know to save money!!

One of my favorites – his name.  I reused his name and mod podged Spiderman comics to it.

Of course a room isn’t complete without a huge Spiderman on the wall from fathead and an added bonus is the web across the room.  Trevor thinks it is the coolest.

Repainted the lamp shade

More pics from NYC.

Another view of the before and after.

It only took over 7 months to finally complete the room, but I am very happy with how everything turned out and I think I have a very happy 4 year old.  Now if we can just work on him keeping it clean!!

Spring Break 2014

This past Spring Break was a little one the chilly side for most of the week.  We started out our week on Monday with a visit to Fernandina to see life size replicas of the Nina and Pinta boats.

These boats were only here for a couple of days and were leaving Monday evening to go to the next city.  I knew Brody was all into history and I thought this would be right up his alley.  Well, the weather wasn't very accommodating, but we managed.

We paid to board the ships and tour around.

Here they are pulling up the anchor - of course the anchor wasn't actually moving.

After the ships, we walked down Centre Street to see what the shops were like and to see about grabbing some lunch.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating and it was pretty cold so we headed back to the car and drove to The Loop.

On Wednesday mom went with us and we headed to Jump Zone.  However, I didn't know it was Jump for $5 day so it was pretty crowded.

They jumped for about an hour and then we headed out for lunch and called it a day but not before Brody lost tooth  #7 while eating lunch.

Other than these 2 outings, we hung out around the house and took it easy and enjoyed the no schedule lifestyle.

Afternoon on the water

One Sunday afternoon, Adam and Stephanie invited us out to her MeMaw's place on the water - aka Littlefield for a little fishing and hotdogs.  Chris and Lisa joined us with their 2 boys as well.  The weather was perfect - not too hot and not too cold.  Now neither Jason nor I are much of fishing people but it was great to spend with friends just sitting around and chatting.

The kids had a blast running all around, fishing, and having full reign of a house with no furniture so lots of ball playing was done.

Brody enjoyed fishing but wasn't a fan of picking up the bait.

Trevor tried his hand at the fishing thing and did ok - but usually lost interest.

Stephanie isn't usually like this with fish and touches them just fine, but somehow I perfectly caught a great expression of her with Ava's fish.

Jason trying it out

These 2 are something else - so cute.

Stephanie trying to teach Trevor how to peel the head off the shrimp.  He gradually got used to it.

We sat out on the dock for several hours just chatting and enjoying 2 dolphins playing right in front of the dock.  It was so nice and relaxing!!

Spring Fling

Brody's school held their spring fling on March 21 (the day before spring break) and Brody was SOOOOO excited for this day.  His class had been hard at work preparing for the SAT 10 test coming up the day after they got back from Spring Break.  Mrs. Ray's class was in a friendly competition against Mrs. Chancey's class on how well they were doing on SAT 10 preparation.  To close out the competition there would be a friendly baseball game between the 2 classes.

However, first was the actual school Spring Fling with bouncy houses, games and snow cones.

Brody and Dominic

After the Spring Fling, they came back in to move to get ready for lunch (hot dogs and all kinds of ball park food).  Mrs. Ray had the kids come up and move their marker around the bases according to how well they had done on their SAT 10 practice.  The 2 classes ended up tying.

Time for a little "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"

Finally it was time for the baseball game.  My sweet husband took off half a day to help out with the baseball game - I think Mrs. Ray was pretty happy about that.

Of course we didn't keep score and everyone in the class hit, played the field, and no one really got out - a little organized chaos.  My child had a hard time adjusting to no one getting out.

Sweet Molly played right in the middle of the field ready to catch every ball that came her way.

Our class all lined up to hit off the tee.

We have several students who play baseball and we were a little worried that someone might get hurt with them hitting off a tee - thankfully we were all safe.

This is Anna Brook, my roommate from college's niece (yes a small world).  She is the cutest thing and reminds me so much of my roomie!!

Good Game!!

Mrs. Ray's class

It was one fulfilled day for these kids.  They were ready for Spring Break and even more ready for the SAT 10 when they come back.
