Happy Halloween

Yes, I am posting about Halloween 3 days after Thanksgiving - I'm just a little behind!!

As in my last post, Brody and Trevor dressed up as a tennis player and tennis ball for Halloween. Brody was very excited to be the tennis player. However, he wasn't so thrilled about wearing the wig - it took lots of bribing.

Even my dad tried the wig on to try and get Brody to wear it.

Here's the first of many I'm sure - when Brody goes down for nap he likes to fall down on his pillow, well today was no exception except that he missed the pillow and hit the headboard with the side of his face including his eye. Here's the after picture - look at the right swollen eye.

The big Georgia/Florida game fell on Halloween and it's a tradition to have a get together for this game - John & Tracy, Keith and Kelly and Bryan and Tara came over to watch the game. At half time, we got the kids dressed in their costume and headed up to the church for a little while for our fall festivus (as Brody calls it - no he hasn't heard that from Seinfeld). Thank goodness for DVR so we could tape the game and finish watching it when we got home.

At the fall "festivus" Brody and Trevor were entered into a costume contest and won Most Creative - I was a proud mom!!

Baylie and Brody decided to share the horse and ride around the house together - so sweet and I'm sure these will show up in a yearbook somewhere down the road.

A spooky zoo

On Thursday before Halloween we headed to the Spooktacular at the zoo with John, Tracy & Baylie. This was our first time and we weren't sure what to expect. We were hoping it wouldn't be too crowded since we were going on a weekday - we were wrong!!

We walked around the spooky path and got candy at the several candy stations. It was quite difficult to have too much fun because we were constantly trying to make sure we had a hand on Brody since it was so dark. However, I think Brody and Baylie still had fun.

I really wanted the boys to dress up together for Halloween - so I (thanks to the Ards) came up with a tennis player and a tennis ball. The tricky part was that I had to make Trevor's tennis ball outfit - I AM NOT A SEWER!!! For about 2 weeks prior to Halloween I worked on this outfit. My supplies were yellow fleece, no sew adhesive, polyfil, and velcro tabs. I cut out about 6 oblong shaped pieces and glued them together in a ball shape and then filled with polyfil. The key to making it look like a tennis ball was the word PENN on the side - thanks to Jason our real tennis player. I was very happy with how it turned out.

I think Trevor really liked the costume because he slept really good in it that night.

Brody of course was the tennis player with his white shorts, shirt & headband. He was supposed to wear a wig but he wasn't in to it that night.

After the zoo, we all headed to Chili's to eat. You never know how Brody will do in a restaurant especially since it was so late.. However, thanks to an iphone with games and being around Baylie he did great. Trevor even laid down on the seat and took a nap. Nothing like dinner at 10PM with 2 3 year olds and 3 month old. Fun Times!!

A weekend getaway

Towards the end of October, Jason had a golf tournament in Hilton Head Island so we decided to all pack up and go with him. Last year, Brody and I went and we had a blast so I really wanted to go again this year but it would definitely be different with Trevor. My mom came to the rescue and came along with us to help me out.

We left Thursday afternoon and spent 3 nights in a condo. While Jason played golf on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - mom and I ventured off with the boys to explore the island - mostly shopping.

Friday morning, we all walked down towards the beach to let Brody play on the playground which of course he had a great time. Even Trevor had a great time - sleeping.

NiNi being a kid at heart.

It started to drizzle a little so this was the best thing we had for Trevor - yes he is under there.

On Saturday we ventured to the downtown harbor area. We couldn't have asked for better weather - it was beautiful. We sat out by the harbor for lunch and the boys were great. They love being outside but what boy doesn't enjoy it. Once we picked up Jason we headed to the outlet mall to do a little shopping.

We had a great time of just relaxing and exploring the island. It was definitely much easier with mom along to help. Hilton Head is known for the bike trails and last year Brody and I were able to take advantage of them, but this year was a little harder with a 2 month old so hopefully next year we will be able to.Trevor taking his first bath in a bathtub. He loved it and kicked water all over the place.

He's growing up

Yes, it has been awhile since my last blog - there has been a lot going on so there will be lots of posts to try and catch up.

Back in mid October, we signed Brody up to start daycare at Sonshine. He had been on the waiting list since he turned 2 and they finally had an opening. He started the week before I went back to my 3 day a week work schedule. He was all excited to go. It happened to be picture day so when I dropped him off his class was headed to the auditorium for pictures. He wasn't sure about this because this wasn't the room we visited the week prior. If there is one thing I have learned about a 2 year old is that they are all about routine and you don't want to mess it up - at least that is how Brody is.

After about 45 minutes, I finally left him and he did okay - no tears. I found out later that he wouldn't take a picture - I'm sure that would have been a pretty sight if they had made him. He loved playing on the playground because he can play with Baylie and Bradyn since they are a year older and in another class.

Here's a few pictures of my sweet boy on his first day of school.
