First sleepover

Jason's sister, Tara, had her little baby girl EARLY Friday morning.  With 2 boys on antibiotics, we thought it would be best to not take them up to the hospital.  I hated not to be able to go up there, but Jason went up there around lunchtime to represent us.  When he came home he brought home a visitor - Cale - Tara's little boy.  He actually was pretty excited to come home with Uncle Jason.  Tara wasn't sure how he was going to do when it got bedtime.

Brody and Trevor were pretty excited to have Cale over to play and spend the night.  We asked Brody where Cale was going to sleep and he said he was sleeping with him.  They all played pretty good together.  Of course there were the typical - "he pushed me", "he hit me", "I had it first", but other than that it went pretty good.

Since Friday was the day before Trevor's birthday party, I was finishing up Trevor's cake so thankfully Jason kept the boys occupied.  Of course when you have 3 boys and it's bathtime what else do you except this...

Going to bed was quite an experience.  Brody and Cale got in the bed around 10:00 with not too many problems.  Around 10:45, I could still hear talking so I walked in and they were reading a book by the light of the aquarium - so sweet but definitely time for bed.  Jason said they were still chatting around 11:30.  Thankfully they weren't too tired the next day.  It's hard for me to remember that when I had sleepovers when I was young, we didn't sleep much either.

Overall it was a successful first sleepover - sure there will be more in the future.

Where has the time gone

Happy 2nd Birthday to our not so little boy anymore.  As I write this, I am quickly reminded of the oh so quick delivery 2 years ago.  As I worked a full day of work and got home around 5:00 and was at the hospital at 8:00 and had our bundle of energy 19 minutes later.  That should have been a warning that Trevor would be the one to keep us on our toes, which he definitely has.

Trevor has a personality that melts our hearts, however, there is a mean picking instigator side to him which he loves to show off on his older brother and of course it drives Brody crazy.  Trevor loves his sleep and is sleeping about 11 hours a night and takes about a 2 hour nap during the day.  He of course is climbing out of his crib but usually just in the morning when he wakes up - he's a really good climber.

He always seems to enjoy life.  He is very friendly to people.  His vocabulary is becoming clearer and easier to understand.  He is very good at his manners (I guess this comes from us always telling Brody the right words to say).  He loves to say "yes mam (whether you are a guy or girl).

Trevor is still a picky eater and it can drive me crazy at times.  His favorite foods are applesauce, cheese, crackers, some fruit, and gummies.  He occasionally eats pancakes, pasta, rice, and chicken nuggets.  He always seems to have ants in his pants so he doesn't like to sit still for too long.  This makes it difficult to go out to eat.

He has recently started to enjoy watching tv.  His favorite shows are Mickey Mouse, Blues Clues, and Dino Dan.  We try to limit the tv watching as much as possible, but at times tv watching comes in pretty handy.

What a weekend

Of course when you have all of these plans made for a nice weekend, it will never work out that way.  I think that is God's way of saying "Hey, I'm in charge, not you".  Well, this is what happened to me this past weekend.

Trevor has had a fever off and on since we got back from our beach weekend but I kept thinking it would go away on it's own.  Well, Friday he started brushing his ears a little so I decided to call the doctor.  They said I could come in or just wait to see how he was Sat morning.  Yeah, looking back I should have just gone in on Friday but I thought I would just wait.  I don't want to be the mom who takes their child in for every little thing and is constantly getting antibiotics.  Sure enough Saturday morning Trevor wasn't any better so we had an appt to see Dr. Baker at 10:20.

Well, there went my plans because you see we were going to all go to the beach for the day and then Jason had a tee time in the afternoon out at Sawgrass.  It was going to be perfect.  Well, God thought otherwise so off we headed to the doctor.  Thankfully Jason suggested that afterwords we would walk around the Riverside Arts Market, so I felt a little better.

Anyway, sure enough Trevor had a double ear infection.  Dr. Baker asked us if anyone else had been sick and so we asked her to check Brody and he ALSO had a double ear infection.  SCORE - both kids with double ear infections - do I win an award of something?  Just kidding.  Thankfully, neither of my boys show too many irritable signs of ear infections so usually the doctor tells us about them when we have a well appt.  The only sign that Brody shows is that he can be quite ugly and acts unlike his normal self, which is why I wanted them to check his ears because some uglyness was shining though on Friday.

After the doctor we headed a few blocks over to the Riverside Arts Market.  It was HOT though so thankfully it was under the Fuller Warren bridge which offered some relief.  We walked around for a little while and then listened to some live Folk Music while we ate some lunch by the river. 

The boys had pretty much had enough so we picked up some fresh cherry tomatoes and oranges (Brody's picks) from some local growers and headed out, but not without a couple of screams about it being so hot and the sun in his eyes.  Boy was I looking forward to keeping them all night since Jason would be playing golf. 

Thankfully they weren't too bad - little antibiotics and a good nap can cure most things.

PBA?? I don't think so.

One of our bucket list items was to go bowling.  Well, I don't think any of us are ready for the Professional Bowlers Association after Thursday night's showing.

With boys we have to keep them active so we thought bowling would be great and Jason and I both enjoy bowling (it was our first date).  Maybe we should have picked a better time.  We went last Thursday evening - Tuesday and Thursday's aren't always the best because it's a school day and somebody doesn't get a nap, but we thought it would be ok.

We headed to Cassat Batt Bowl with my parents (who used to be in a bowling league).  The main bowling alley was full so they sent us over to the side area which was actually much nicer.  Thank goodness we were the only ones in that area for awhile.  Brody and Trevor loved to grab their 6 pound ball and carry it to the ball ramp.  Trevor got so excited regardless if he knocked any pins down.  Brody was so funny to watch as he would pump his arms after he knocked some down.

This went on for almost the first game, but then Trevor found the snacks in my purse and didn't really want much to do with bowling.  Then Brody just wanted to eat as well so we ended up finishing out their 2nd game for them.

I learned valuable lessons that night - feed the kids BEFORE we go bowling, morning time might be better, and let them bowl continuously on their own lane so they don't get bored.  Even though the boys weren't on their best behavior that night and I was ready to pull my hair out, we still plan on going back and giving it another try.

A weekend getaway

This past weekend we packed up and headed to Palm Coast for a beach weekend getaway.

We stayed at Hammock Beach Resort which had everything you could ever want - beach, pool, golf and food.  It wasn't just one pool - more like 5 pools - one with a 3 story windy slide and one with a sand entrance and even a lazy river - a great place for 2 boys.

Enjoying the pools.  Brody loved to jump through the water fall.  He was such a big boy.  Trevor wanted to jump just like his big brother but he thought twice once he got up there.

While daddy played golf one afternoon, we headed to the sand pool.  They thought it was pretty cool to have sand next to the pool.

We spent a lot of time near the lazy river.  Both boys loved going around and around - Trevor mostly spent his time jumping off the side into the lazy river.

Of course we always had to have snacks and leave it to Trevor to find them and ALWAYS want some.

This was the new thing for him to do and of course Trevor wanted to try.

While Jason played golf, I let the boys play in the big open area and we were Jason's cheering section as he approached the 18th.

Of course we headed out to the beach a couple of times as well.  The resort had chairs & umbrellas so no need to drag ours at which was a relief.

We had a wonderful weekend besides the fact that both boys were feeling under the weather.  Brody fought a fever all three days, but thankful for Advil.  Trevor woke up Sunday morning with croup.  That is the scariest thing ever.  He had shown no signs of being sick but woke up coughing a little bit and then all of sudden was having difficulty breathing.  Thank goodness for Carither's "What to do before you call the doctor" because it said to open the freezer and let him breathe the cold air in and then take him to a hot steamed up bathroom.  Thankfully this worked and he seemed ok for the rest of the day.  However, we decided to come on home that morning instead of playing in the pool.  The boys slept all the way home.

This could definitely be a place we visit again.
